About Me

I am a teacher of middle school science in Eau Claire.  I have raised and shown purebred English Cocker Spaniels since 1981.  I am married and have 2 grown sons and 1 grandson.  I'm kind-of an artsy-craftsy Earth mother type of person.  I have been attending, and thus adicted to, Ren fairs for a long time now.  I've never been an actor at one but love to attend and play with my character.  Recently at Bristol and Shakopee I have been mistaken for "one of the cast". Now its time to put myself to the test and try acting at a fair for real.  I look forward to working with the guild and honing this new craft of mine:)

How about a big flamboyant Arch Bishop or Cardinal? Hang around the court and sell Papal dispensantions, holy relics, get out of hell free cards. Cardinal Cladio's show popra is very funny. Must be on you tube.

How about a troupe of bad actors like Rude Mechanicals in Midsummers Night Dream. Big laughs, lots of color and endless props. Run around with a trunk or cart of different costumes and props. this is your chance to pimp shakespeare.

We need busty, bawdy, loud, singing and uninhibited washer-well woment. this is your chance to howl, make fun of men and flirt! We'll construct a well stage and help with costuming. Check out ren sites and you tube for ideas. It's very popular at faires. You'll make money by people throwing money in your wash tubs and well.

A village wise women is a great idea. What does a wise women do. Think active verbs. You can't act an idea. What does she look like? How does her charater fit in a small renaissance village during festival time. If she meets the king what does she do? Is she a mother with 2 grown sons? Was a wise woment at that time shorthand for medicine woman, storyteller, mind reader, shaman (does she do spells?), midwife etc. Get the idea. What does she do? Shaman character would be colorful and fun. You could do spells, read ruins, make potions, read palms. Probably stay away from card reading since people are paying to do that. What ever you do it has to be big and theatrical. This is not a re-enactment event. You're looking to make a differance, be remembered. Send me your bio. What kind of roles did you do in community theatre. You say you are a science teacher? Capericus (sp), Kepler, Galileo? Was alchemy and astrology considered science? Were there any women scientists in Elizabethan England?

Again you can't act an idea. What does a wise woman do? If you want to further this use my [email protected]

Unfortunately not. I'm going down to the AZ show to bring in vendors, rides and games, food people and drink. I'm dying to meet you folks.

I do have a bio in progress. I put it together for the guild last fall but it really was never "reviewed" as things got off to a bit of a slow start. I can send what I have if you would like to give me an email addi to use. I have not acted at a Ren Fair as a cast member but have been a Rennie for a long time now and do act my part whenever I attend any Fair. I've done some acting in school and community theater in my younger years but now just entertain my middle school science students!

Claire is the wife the Buchannon Clan's warchieftan, Jamie. She lives comfortably but is by no means wealthy. I'd like to develop her as a village "wise woman" if that would fit the Fair in Chippewa. I think it would but then of course I would:).
I am open to suggestions and can adapt as needed by the guild.

Hi Dawn - What do Claire do? Cook, pot maker, home-maker, kids? What class is she? Is her scottish accent clear and understandable? Do you have a bio on her?
